According to reports, the Blackhawks are close to securing a deal with veteran goaltender Petr Mrazek. Insider information from ESPN's Kevin Weekes suggests that both parties have reached an agreement in principle, and an official announcement regarding Mrazek's contract extension is imminent within the next day or two.
This clearly suggests that the team is not confident in their goaltending prospect Arvid Soderblom.
At 31 years old, Mrazek is currently in the last year of a contract that sees him earn $3.8 million annually.
The goaltender joined the Blackhawks through a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL offseason and has been solid between the pipes ever since, as well as proving that by securing a win for the Blackhawks throughout nine shootout rounds last night against the San Jose Sharks.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as the team looks poised to make a major addition to their roster.
