Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson reached into the unrestricted free agency pool and crafted a deal for a former first round draft pick of the Blackhawks in Teuvo Teravainen with a three-year contract worth $16.2 million.

Teravainen who was selected in 2012 by the Blackhawks, first round 18th overall was with the team for the first three seasons of his career where he was instrumental in the cup finals in 2015 where he won the Stanley Cup in his rookie year.

On June 15, 2016, he was traded to the Hurricanes along with Bryan Bickell in exchange for the New York Rangers second round pick in 2016 and the 2017 third round pick for the Blackhawks. But it appears life has come full circle, and he gets to try again with his former first team.

His new deal has a $5.4 million cap hit Which is a fair deal considering his point production. Last season he played 76 games, scoring 25 goals with 28 assists for 53 points and as a + 15 With 10 penalty minutes.

He will complement the top six and should be a fixture on their top power play unit as the Blackhawks roster continues to fill up with Tyler Bertuzzi, Teravainen, Foligno, Hall, Bedard and Mikheyev.

It seems that Kyle Davidson has answered the call and has given the team a much-needed boost in terms of talent who will then translate more to wins.
