Chicago Blackhawks make a move with Connor Bedard moments before puck drop and he responds
The Blackhawks have officially moved Connor Bedard to wing, switching his position.
Playing his sophomore season has been less than ideal, as Luke Richardson's been unable to find his optimal lineup for the regular season.
He's shuffled players on and off the lineup so often, you'd think he's mixing margaritas while concocting the lines daily.
Today was no different, as there were new linemates announced for Bedard: Jason Dickinson, and Joey Anderson who up until recently, played a grinding style of hockey.
Your typical forechecking forward, who had defensive responsibilities, and now they're 1st liners.
This is atypical, and recently the only other club whose ran lines like this is Boston.
Bedard was asked by the media about the drastic lineup changes, thanks to Luke Richardson.
«I think I got to find good spots for myself, try to get the puck in good areas,» Bedard said. «I think that's something that's been tough for me right now, getting the puck in a spot that makes it easy to make a play. So I kind of can't handcuff myself.»
«It's frustrating, but I can't go back to the past games or whatever,» Bedard said. «I just kind of got to keep playing and keep trying to get better.»It sounds like he's looking ahead to the next game against the Ducks tonight and will not dwell upon the past which has yielded results that wasn't typical of his play from last season.
Bedard's last goal came against the Dallas Stars on October 26th, and since then he's not been performing up to expectations.
The general idea was for him to build on his 61 point season in 2023-2024, and with better linemates push him into 80-100 point territory.
Now, it seems out of reach. Maybe tonight will be a u-turn for the team against another rebuilding organization for their second meeting of the year.
