Detroit Red Wings Complete Move With Former Blackhawk Patrick Kane
The Detroit Red Wings are getting reinforcements today, as Patrick Kane has been activated off of the injured reserve.
The Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Rogers Arena.
Tonight, the Red Wings will have more firepower available to them, as former Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane has been activated off of injured reserve.
The team is currently 26-21-5 and 6th in the Atlantic Division and under Todd McLellan, the Wings are 13-4-1.
Kane was placed on injured reserve retroactive to January 21st, and will likely slot in on the second line for the Wings tonight.
He's missed five games in his absence with the Wings, winning every single one.
The team has had an impressive showing in his absence, defeating some of the NHL's best teams in the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Kane slotting in on the second line could be a game-changer. He has played 42 games this season and scored 30 points (11 G, 19 A) and is fifth on the team in scoring.
He was placed on injured reserve to make room for AHL veteran Dominik Shine who was signed to a two-year contract to fill in during his absence.
With his return, the injury bug hasn't stopped plaguing the Red Wings as they have had to place center
J.T. Compher on IR.
Kane's presence in the lineup gives the team a scoring edge, and last season we saw showtime in his purest form.
He scored 47 points (20 G, 27 A) in 51 games and signed a one-year deal for $4 million afterward.
Could this be the year the Red Wings make it to the playoffs?
