The Chicago Blackhawks shocked the hockey world on Saturday when it was announced that Seth Jones had been traded to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Spencer Knight, a conditional first-round pick and a fourth-round pick, and now Don Cherry has done his part by offering his bold take on it.

Seth Jones had publicly stated just one week ago that he was in hopes to be traded away from the Blackhawks, and these were some of his final comments.
«I've been here the last four years through probably the darkest times the Blackhawks have seen for a while,» Jones told The Athletic on Friday. «I think things are moving up, they are moving forward. But I think my timeline might be different than Kyle (Davidson) and Norm's (Maciver) and the Blackhawks."

The Blackhawks had an absolute dynasty dynasty between 2010 and 2015, winning three Stanley Cups in that span and defenseman Seth Jones was convinced that he would get a taste of playoff hockey by signing long-term in Chicago, and it has lead to the opposite.

Seth Jones signing in Florida greatly impacts the Maple Leafs: here's why

On the latest episode of Don Cherry's podcast with his son, Tim Cherry, they spoke on the Seth Jones trade and how it greatly impacts the Maple Leafs' chances at a Stanley Cup due to the Panthers likely facing off against the Leafs in the 2024-25 season post-season.
Don Cherry also made his feelings quite known on Jones' production in a Blackhawks sweater, calling it 'lousy' multiple times.
"He'll pick it up[in Florida]. Oh, he's been playing lousy in Chicago. Yeah, he really was playing lousy,"
Cherry said.
Panthers general manager Bill Cito praises Seth Jones following trade completion
The Panthers are stoked to acquire Jones, as stated in theirintroduction interview to the organization, as defending Stanley Cup Champions they believe that acquiring Jones can give them a boost to reach back to back championships.
«Seth is an elite veteran defenseman and a proven leader in our league,» Zito said on Saturday. «He has been one of the most consistent players of the past decade, serving as a reliable workhorse on both sides of the puck, and he will help our club continue to compete at the highest level."

It is now in Seth Jones' hands to perform at the level of his $9.5M contract worth, surrounded by Stanley Cup Champions and a team with a winning culture.
