A Date Blackhawks Fans Should Fear is Officially Announced
The NHL officially revealed this years NHL trade deadline date and Blackhawks fans should fear it, Friday March 3rd 2023. Why should Blackhawks fans fear it? There are very many reasons as the Hawks are in a rebuild state, but the main one is Star American Born forward Patrick Kane who's contract expires April 13th on the NHL's last set of regular season games before the season ends.
Kane, who holds a contract of $10.5 million per year will be on very many teams radar as a loaner player to go ''all-in'' for the playoffs that start after the trade deadline. Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks will have to retain at least 50% of Kane's cap space as it is more than likely no contender during March of next season. Kane has stated he will see how the season starts before making any trade decisions.
It is quite similar to Claude Giroux's season in Philadelphia, he did not want to be traded early on as he waited until closer to the NHL's trade deadline to see who the leagues top contenders for the cup were, which were the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers (Giroux chose Florida, which i am sure he greatly regrets).
Other notable Blackhawks players who could very likely be moved, and hold a contract which expires the same time as Kane are the following:
Jonathan Toews
Max Domi
Jack Johnson
Collin Blackwell
