BREAKING - NHL Announces Norris Trophy Winner Best Defenseman in The League
Frank Calder, the former President of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1917 until his death in 1943, is recognized with the Calder Memorial Trophy. The Calder Trophy was originally presented at the conclusion of the 193637 NHL season, despite the fact that Rookie of the Year awards had been given out since 193233.
This years finalists are:
Cale Makar (Colorado):
Where to start with Cale Makar? After winning rookie of the year Makar is starting to look like the future of the NHL's blueline, Wayne Gretzky even mentioned the league has not seen a defenseman with such skill as Makar since Bobby Orr was in the NHL and most agree. Makar did the unexpected this season breaking records that were set by NHL legends, coming off a 28 goal and 86 point season as a defenseman is something the NHL has yet to see for many years.
Roman Josi (Nashville):
When mentioning the Nashville Predators two key faces come to mind that were behind their wins this past season and those are goaltender Juuse Saros and defenseman Roman Josi. Coming off a season high 96 point season, a best out of his time throughout the last 11 in the NHL- Josi should also be considered a runner up for a teams MVP as he carried the Preds on his back in multiple ways.
and the winner is....
Cale Makar has won it!
