BREAKING - NHL Announces Vezina Trophy Winner Best Goalie of The Year
The Vezina Trophy is given to the goaltender in the National Hockey League who is "judged to be the best at this position" each year. The thirty-two NHL general managers vote at the end of each season to see who is the best.
This years finalists:
Igor Shesterkin (Rangers):
This past season was his first full season in the NHL and he made a quick impact recording 36 wins out of 53 games played leaving him only totalling 13 losses all season long. He stopped 1,516 shots out of 1,622 shots against, letting in 106 goals throughout 53 games played totalling a 2.07 GAA.
Jacob Markstrom (Flames):
This past season was Markstroms best in quite some time, passing career highs in shutouts, wins, goals against and even saves. Markstrom stopped 1,617 shots out of 1,754 shots faced making for a nice goals against average of 2.22 throughout 63 games played.
Juuse Saros (Predators):
When thinking of terms on how the Predators made the playoffs its surely made up from two key pieces, Norris Trophy finalists Roman Josi and Vezina finalist Juuse Saros. This was Saros's first season given the full-time goaltending role and he did not do the team wrong! Saros posted a career high 38 wins in 67 games played, stopping 1,934 shots out of 2,107 shots against totalling a 2.64 GAA.
