BREAKING: NHL Legend and Former Blackhawk Shockingly Let go From His Job
Several well-known personalities are reportedly at risk of being let go during the recent ESPN layoffs.
One notable departure that is official is Chris Chelios, who will not return as an in-studio hockey analyst next NHL season.
The decision is unrelated to his performance but is part of ESPN's assessment of talent contracts. As ESPN aims to cut costs, on-air announcers, analysts, and reporters with expiring contracts, high salaries, or limited work schedules are particularly vulnerable.
The Hall of Famer has worked as an in-studio analyst since NHL game coverage returned to ESPN in 2021. Other notable personalities expected to part ways in the coming days.
The layoffs align with the parent company, Walt Disney Co.'s, goal of reducing jobs and costs. ESPN's recent signing of Pat McAfee has raised concerns among some employees, but it is primarily a deal with his production company rather than a direct talent hire.
