Before the Canucks hopped on the plane and departed Vancouver for their five game road trip, the teams general manager Jim Rutherford made it clear that these next five games will determine the future of the Canucks roster for the rest of the season.
The Canucks have now went 0-3 throughout their first three games on the road trip, and pulled through with a 5-4 win against the Buffalo Sabres to put them at 1-3, with one game remaining which will take place in Los Angeles on Friday against the Kings. Throughout these last four games on the road trip, several players have been healthy scratched by the Canucks, and all fingers are pointing towards trades shortly taking place.
Stated above, ''all fingers are pointing to trades taking place shortly'' has now been confirmed by TSN's Craig Button.
Craig Button stated the following:
''Horvat's done. It appears to me that Bo Horvat, he's done and he's best served going somewhere else.'' The criticism that we've heard about Bo Horvat and the contract negotiations is that he's a player that's going to be on the move.''
- Craig Button
It is expected that Horvat is moved whenever they can find a trade partner willing to set Vancouver up with a key prospect and multiple first round picks to help the Canucks' future.
Bo Horvat is currently second amongst skaters in goals scored with 14 on the season, the next in front of him? Connor McDavid. Horvat's trade value is currently at an all-time high as he is expected to crush his former career high seasoned point total.
Horvat holds a $5.5 million dollar cap hit and will be a unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, where it is assumed he will hit the free agent market in search for a new home, as per why TSN's Craig Button states the time is now for Horvat to be moved.
