Bergeron Proves He's The Classiest Player in The NHL During This Interview
Patrice Bergeron has officially signed a one-year $2.5 million dollar contract with the Boston Bruins which contains $2.5 in bonuses!! The veterans future has been up in the air, and a contract has yet to be discussed in quite some time- but clearly the community has been out of the loop as it's now official.
Bergeron's health was in question, and to protect it at all costs that may have had to include not playing and retiring for professional hockey as a whole. Thankfully, Bergeron is back to his old self and will be returning for one last season!
Bergeron understands the Bruins are in cap space troubles, and took a MAJOR pay cut, nearly $8 million dollars LESS than what his expected contract was, but why?
Bergeron said the following:
''I think leaving a few dollars on the table really makes a big difference. The money is not important. Boston is my home''.
The contract is amazing for the Bruins, as it is a low value of $2.5m per season, but also amazing for Bergeron as there is $2.5 million in bonuses if he does well in certain areas!
