The Blackhawks are starting from ground zero this season, only keeping a couple of people under contract, and trading a few people away. It is all for one goal, and that goal is tanking for Connor Bedard.
The Hawks use to weaponize their cap space. They have a little over 7 million dollars to use. Pretty much what they're going to do, they may take some LTIR contracts that may help them with the rebuild, or trade for some players who team's want to dump their contracts. One example being Jessie Puljujarvi from the Edmonton Oilers.
This season won't be a competitive one, and Hawks fans aren't expecting anything from the team this year. But Connor Bedard is #1 on everyone's minds, and he should be. He could change this franchise once he steps into the United Center.
