Since the Blackhawks started their rebuild last season, the question around the NHL has been what does the future hold for the two stars on the team: Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

The clock is ticking as we are only a couple weeks away from the March 3rd trade deadline, which mean both players are going to have to decide if they are going to stay in Chicago for the rest of their terms or if they want to go for a championship with another team. If they decide to play for another team, they will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in their careers at the end of the season.

If they do decide to leave it would open up leadership roles with the team. Toews is the longest-tenured captain in the history of the franchise, and he is one of the more respected captains in the league. Kane is the most dynamic offensive player the Blackhawks organization has seen in the last 20 years since Jeremy Roenick left. The focus has been set on the 2023 draft since the moment Alex DeBrincat was traded because everyone knows this year is a really deep year for prospects and fans are excited to see what type of elite prospect they can get when it comes time in April.

It definitely is going to be sad watching both of these players leave if they do decide to, but both players have stated that they love Chicago and that makes us wonder if they will resign with them at some point or if they will end their careers there.
