The Chicago Blackhawks made a few signings this past off-season, they signed three forwards and a defensemen to one year deals, but they also made a trade that flew under the radar by many hockey fans.
On October seventh the Blackhawks sent defensemen of two years Riley Stillman to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Jason Dickinson, a 24 year old forward who was not known by many at the NHL level.
So far the Blackhawks are the clear winners of the deal as Riley Stillman is no longer on the Vancouver Canucks roster after being a negative in the plus minor category (-7) throughout seven games played.
Jason Dickinson on the other hand is having quite the opposite season and is tied for fourth in Blackhawks points, as well as tied for second in team goals scored. Dickinson also holds a very friendly contract that is just $6.25 million per season.
Sadly Dickinson was not present at the Blackhawks most recent game against the Anaheim Ducks due to a illness that is not COVID-19 related, but thankfully he took place at this mornings Blackhawks skate.
Unfortunately despite his participation in practice, Dickinson has been ruled out for tonights game due to an unhealthy amount of weight lost while being sick.
Dickinson is feeling better but lost some weight from his illness, so he's being held out again tonight so as not to drain him more.
