He has 10 points in 14 games, which consists of 7 goals and 3 assists. He has been a beast in the front of the net, and even if he doesn't score, he is putting pressure on the opposing D.
His point total is not his most impressive stat, though, as Toews currently has the best faceoff percentage of his career at 62.8%. His current career best for a season is 59.9%.
With Toews playing this way, his trade value has shot up from what it was prior to the season. Obviously, him and Kane are on contract years and may not be with the team after the trade deadline.
We all known Kane's value, but let's take a look at Toews' value.
Last year, Claude Giroux was traded to the Panthers for Owen Tippett, a 2024 1st, and a 2023 3rd.
At the time, Giroux was also on a contract year, and was the same age that Toews' will be at this year's deadline.
It is fair to say that Giroux had a bit more value as he had produce more consistently than Toews has the last few year, but it is not that big of a value difference.
The Blackhawks should be able to get a young talent and a 2nd or 3rd round pick at the least for Toews.
Pierre LeBrun has hinted that he believes a likely landing spot for Toews, if he decides to waive his no trade clause, could be the Colorado Avalanche.
The Avalanche have some solid young talent. Some of the young guys who could be packaged for Toews include: Alex Newhook, Shane Bowers, Martin Kaut, Bowen Byram, and Sampo Ranta.
Bowen Byram would be the best player for the Blackhawks as he probably has the most upside of those players, but is also a defenseman, which is where the Hawks need young talent the most.
If the Blackhawks could get Byram and a pick for Toews, it will be hard for the front office to turn it down.
