Bad luck for Germany, going into the World Championships - their native son, and one of Chicago's top prospects, Lukas Reichel, will not be playing due to an injury he suffered during the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs against the Iowa Wild.

The Rockford IceHogs, Chicago's AHL team, swept the Wild, two games to none, but were in turn swept by the Texas Stars, 3-0 in the Central Division Semifinals. They lost their final game, 4-2. The second goal was scored by Reichel, but it was the only goal and point he'd had all post-season.

As fans are used to seeing his name pop up numerous times on the score sheet, it was apparent he was battling some kind of injury. The 20 year old winger is just as well known around the NHL as the AHL, having played 23 games with the Blackhawks this season, and acquiring 15 points by way of 7 goals and 9 assists.

Luckily, the injury doesn't appear to be anything so serious that it will affect his future in Chicago. He is definitely the kind of player the Blackhawks will want to keep around for a long time.
