There are new developments in regards to the injury suffered by Jake McCabe and his timeline to return to action. Last week, it was reported that McCabe underwent successful spine surgery very recently and wasn't expected back on the ice until December at the earliest.
McCabe was seen skating at training camp and provided a new update regarding his health. McCabe apparently underwent surgery six weeks ago, which is why he was seen skating this week as training camp has gotten underway. If all goes well on the road to recovery, we should expect to see McCabe back with the Blackhawks in four to six weeks.
McCabe further discussed his injury with the media during his availability this afternoon. McCabe stated «I've been dealing with it honestly for 4 to 5 years, on and off.» He went on to say that the conservative approach for healing and rehab wasn't doing the trick, so he opted to undergo surgery to fix his issue. While McCabe's play wasn't great last year, learning more about his nagging injuries sure helps his case. With McCabe hopefully being 100 percent healthy for the first time in awhile, his play on the ice should improve immensely.
