Blackhawks make big move with top prospect official
There are so many new players on the Chicago Blackhawks, the team is experimenting with its lineup. At the end of last season, one of these new faces became a fixture: Lukas Reichel.
According to reports, Reichel will move to the Center position after working with the team and planning out his next move.
As a wing during the 2022-2023 season, Reichel excelled, scoring 12 points in 19 games. In moving to center, he will have to consider more on the ice, since he will have to play both ends of the ice and take on newly acquired defensive responsibilities.
General manager Kyle Davidson said Wednesday that Reichel has been working on faceoffs and the defensive side of his game over the summer.
"I'm sure there will be some growth areas for him down the middle, but we wouldn't try it out if we didn't think he could succeed there," Davidson explained.
Kyle Davidson and the newly-minted center clearly have a game plan, as the youngster worked on his face-offs and defensive skills over the summer.
Lukas Reichel scores his second goal of the scrimmage. Wow this was pretty. #Blackhawks
As you can see from the footage above, Reichel has adjusted to his new responsibilities quite well, scoring two goals during a team scrimmage.
