The Vegas Golden Knights have a new head coach, former Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. The Knights have found a replacement for Peter Deboer, following him being fired after the Knights failed to make the playoffs.
Cassidy has been behind the bench since 1996 where he started coaching his former team the Indianapolis Ice. He later went on to coach in the ECHL, AHL, and OHL in addition to the NHL. Where Cassidy found a home with the Boston Bruins from 2016-2022. He led the team to the playoffs in every season, and in 2019 led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Finals, picking up a jack adams trophy for himself.
The Knights hope that having Cassidy as a coach could toughen the team up a bit before the next season. As it was obviously a tough break this season having not made the playoffs for the first time in the five seasons they've been established. Cassidy too gets a fresh start after being fired despite such an accomplished five seasons with Boston, it shows that no one is really safe in the NHL, and it's often about finding the best fit for the time.
