According to Chris Johnston of TSN, the Edmonton Oilers have approached the Chicago Blackhawks to inquire about waiving Patrick Kane's no-movement clause, there is no word if Kane's camp agreed to or not.
The Chicago Blackhawks would have to retain up to 75% of Kane's cap hit to make a deal to Edmonton work as they only have upwards of $500,000 left, and even then it is still unlikely they could make it work unless the Blackhawks take on a few of their contracts.
Kane has hip problems as well, and many have questioned if he needs surgery after noticing a significant change in his performance this season with just 37 points in 51 games.
With the news of Toews staying in Chicago due to his health issues, will Kane still decide to leave?
