Corey Perry Issues Surprise Statement on The Montreal Canadiens
In the NHL, Corey Perry is considered one of the few players universally hated. In the latter part of his career, he has been known as a pest and has turned many fanbases in the league against him.
Even so, Corey Perry was one of the only members of the current Blackhawks team to receive cheers at the Bell Centre.
"It was pretty cool," admitted Perry. "It was a pretty cool moment, we had a good run when I was here. It was exciting... it's too bad you couldn't play in front of these fans. But at the same time I will never forget playing for my favorite team growing up and going to a Stanley Cup Final."
Upon finishing warmups, Perry received a standing ovation and egged on the crowd by shooting the puck into the Canadiens' net.
As a member of the NHL's Northern Division consisting of all Canadian teams, Perry had a unique experience wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey.
The team reached the Stanley Cup Finals with Perry's help, and despite no fans being allowed in due to the ongoing pandemic, Perry never heard how the fans felt.
Perry had to feel great about the reception, as his short time here was successful albeit lacking a Stanley Cup.
