Who would have thought the Montreal Canadiens would have 17 points (8-6-1) after 15 games and be in the running for a playoff spot? There is probably no one who could have predicted that.

The young core of the Montreal Canadiens is having a blast so far this season, putting up excellent performances in every game. A big part of that success has come from young stars Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, as well as their new partner on the top line, Kirby Dach. So far, Montreal's first line has scored 48.9% of the team's goals. That's huge. Is that sustainable? No, I do not think so, but we can enjoy it while it lasts!

A few games ago, Dach was moved to the wing on the first line. So far, he's done great. Since that change, Dach has 11 points in 7 games. In 14 games, he has 4 goals and 10 assists. By comparison, the Saskatchewan native had 26 points in 70 games for Chicago last season. If he was still with Chicago, he would be the one with the most points... If he keeps this up, Dach will be in the top line for a long time. Who would have thought he would be such a good complement to Caufield and Suzuki?

Here is one of his recent goals:

Nick Suzuki, Montreal's new captain, has 19 points in 15 games. He plays at a high level and controls the tempo like an elite player. He's exciting to watch, and he does not seem to feel the pressure of being captain. We will see how he will react when the team goes through a losing streak.

Cole Caufield has 9 goals and 7 assists this season. The American winger brings dynamism to Montreal's offense. He is extremely fast and agile and every shot he takes is dangerous.
