The first game is Carolina versus Toronto.
This is a good matchup as Toronto has been terrific at home. Despite Carolina only losing 9 games in regulation all year ( 2nd in the NHL), they are not favored in tonight's games. The Leafs are favored coming into the game at -130. It will be an interesting game because Petr Mrazek will be starting for the Leaf's against his former team. The same can be said for the Canes goaltending, as Frederick Anderson will start for the Hurricanes. So, its a tale of previous team matchups for the goalies.
I'm guessing the Leafs will still pull out the win. It is hard to bet against them when they play at home. It could also be an 'under' game, since Carolina doesn't show up sometimes on the road, and the goalies will be dueling eachother while thinking the whole game 'see I told you not to trade me!'
The second game is New Jersey at Ottawa. Matt Murray returns to the net for the Sens. John Gilles is expected to play for the Devils. Jersey is 0-6 in their last six games. They are also 0-6 in their last 6 road games. Quite the schneid. Ottawa isn't much better, as they are 3 wins and 9 losses in their last 12. However, All Star Jack Hughes was just put into Covid quarantine and wont play tonight. An essential piece like that will hinder their chances of getting a road W.
I think both teams are struggling, but Ottawa gets the nod with Hughes being out. This could also be an under game.
What do you think? What are you betting on tonight?
