In a crazy story female Women's NBA star Brittney Griner is in some serious trouble after she was arrested at a Moscow airport for drug possession. It was a dab pen, or THC pen you may call that got her locked up- in her country it would be completely legal but in Russia it didn't fly.
The alleged incident occured four months ago but has been incarcerated in Russia ever since. Griner will appear in court on July 1st to begin her trial.
The Phoenix Mercury star was also ordered to remain in custody for the duration of her criminal trial. It gets worse if convicted Griner could face 10 years in prison on charges of large-scale transportation of drugs. Fewer than 1% of defendants in Russian criminal cases are acquitted, and unlike in the U.S., acquittals can be overturned.
On Monday the Moscow court of Suburb of Khimki extended Griner's detention for another six months after she appeared for a preliminary hearing held behind closed doors.
