It has been said in the past by Blackhawks newly announced GM Kyle Davidson that is ultimately Fleurys decision as what he wants to do with his future.
Fleury was originally drafted by the Penguins in 2003, drafted first overall in the entire draft. Nowadays, goaltenders usually slip past the 10th overall pick, but Fleury was clearly well worth it for the Penguins organization.
Fleury had some beautiful number with the Penguins, going 40 wins 16 losses in a single season, as well as multiple 40+ win seasons- which made Fleury the third penguins goaltender ever to exceed the 30 win mark.
The Penguins are struggling backup goalie wise, and are secured in the starter position with Tristan Jarry. But Casey DeSmith will not cut it for them in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Host and analysts from the NHL radio network David Pagnotta has stated the Penguins are now in the Fleury sweepstakes. Which is great to hear, as this may be Fleurys happiest option for himself & his family.
