Bobby Ryan, at one time I highly productive player in the National Hockey League has struggled with some vices, like many during his life and career. So much so that in 2020 he entered the NHLPA substance abuse program and returned to the Ottawa Senators after an extended treatment program.
Fast forward to July of this year and Ryan was arrested in Nashville at their international airport after a store owner said he had taken items without paying. By the time police found him, Ryan was sitting in the airport bar with a drink in hand completely incoherent.
Soon after his relapse, he took to Twitter to thank his supporters and the people that stood behind him in What no doubt had to of been one of the darkest times of his life.
He opened up about this experience earlier this week on the Wally and Methot podcast, where he admitted responsibility and said as a former player he felt he «could probably drink again» as he didn't believe he had a certain lifestyle to uphold.
All in all, it seems he's doing far better than he was and for that he should be commended.
