The former teammates, now both on different teams, smiled at each other - one slightly brighter than the other, and all the Cat could do was shake his head.
Though the Senators would end up getting one more goal, Fleury made a total of 27 saves, and helped his team to their 3rd win with a score of 4-2.
After an abysmal start to the season, arguably the worst of his 19 year professional career, having 11 pucks go by him in the first 2 games, this Fleury is more like the one we're used to - more like his old (young?) self. In a recent interview with The Athletic, the soon-to-be 38 year old net minder stated, «At the end of the day, I just want to win. But what I've found out over time, when I smile, when I'm having fun, then I play better.»
No one missed that smile tonight, as Fleury recorded his 523rd win, and was named the 1st star of the night. This game was fun for him, and for Minnesota fans, as well, who are are most definitely looking forward to more fun games for their future HoF goaltender throughout the rest of the season.
