Alex Vlasic was selected in the 2nd round of the 2019 NHL Draft and is finally ready to make the leap from the NCAA to the AHL/NHL. Vlasic skated in 15 games for the Blackhawks last season, earning 2 points in the process and showing flashes of his potential to be a solid defender in the NHL. Vlasic is a true shutdown defenseman, which is a rare commodity in the NHL these days. While it may be too soon to see just how good Vlasic will be, the potential and hype surrounding him is prominent.
Vlasic has impressed at every level he has ever played at, earning high praise from coaches for his defensive abilities and high hockey IQ, which can go a long way to making the leap to the NHL a smoother transition. Vlasic is also known for his leadership skills and ability to gel with teammates. He worked his way up to an «A» on his jersey during his junior year at Boston University. Whether he begins in Rockford or Chicago has yet to be determined, but the future for the Wilmette native is very bright! Happy 21st Birthday Alex Vlasic!
