Dave Bolland was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2004 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. Bolland debuted in the 2006-2007 season, immediately gaining love from Blackhawks' fans in the process. Bolland played a physical game and had a grinder mentality, which was on full display during the Blackhawks early Stanley Cup and playoff runs. Bolland would get under his opponnets skin, drawing penalties and making life as hard as possible on his foes.
The most memorable battle was between Joe Thorton and Bolland during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Bolland aggravated Thorton and co. to the point where they tried to mug him whenever he was on the ice. He knew his role on the team and embraced it, allowing the Blackhawks to keep to their game.
Throughout his career in Chicago, Bolland tallied 168 points in 332 games played. Bolland knew when to flip the switch and turn it on when the team needed him, scoring 43 points in 67 playoff games during his Chicago tenure. No goal was bigger than the series clinching game six in Boston, where Bolland scored the go-ahead goal that ultimately brought Lord Stanley back to the windy city. Happy Birthday Dave Bolland!
