It seems as if the predictions of Hawks captain Jonathan Toews' demise have been greatly exaggerated. Though his last year was rough, and he struggled at everything but face offs, going 59 percent at the dots, and the year before that he sat at home with illness, Jonathan has quietly made a triumphant return to the score sheet.
As Mario Tirabassi of CHGO Sports pointed out in the tweet below, it took Toews 33 games to reach twine 4 times last season. He has reached the mark this year in 7. 2 of those on the power play.
He has also raised his face off percentage so far by just under 2 percentage points, which helps the offense in power play situations. Though he only has 1 helper at the moment, I imagine if he can click with Max Domi on the man advantage that number will increase quickly.
With this offensive increase, it may not be without merit to call Toews a new comeback kid.
