Patrick Kane is set to become a free agent after this season, and will be one of the biggest unrestricted free agents in many many years. Kane is currently thirty-three years of age and is deemed one, if not thee best American Born player in NHL history. At 33 years of age, Kane shows zero signs of declining in any categories, just last season Kane had a 92 point year which was his best since 2018, four years ago.

Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has previously mentioned that both Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews have a ''open door policy'', meaning if they choose to leave Chicago Davidson will make that work, or if they choose to stay, a new contract will be re-negotiated after this season.

Both Toews and Kane carry a hefty $10.5 million dollar contract that is set to expire in under 70 games. Kyle Davidson did not want anything to do with re-signing Alex DeBrincat as the Blackhawks are in a rebuild and he needed a new extension after this year, due to DeBrincat's performance Davidson did not want to commit to the Blackhawks making another long-term, high salary contract early into the Blackhawks rebuild. So IF Kane and Toews choose to return to Chicago, it will likely be on short term deals, or a ''one more year'' type of deal in Chicago for the pair.

But with Kane's agent mentioning they will circle back around January to see where Kane stands with the Blackhawks organization, the Blackhawks have a chance to get valuable assets and trade Kane off to a contender before playoffs at the NHL trade deadline.. before Kane may decide to leave Chicago in the off-season, and the Blackhawks get nothing in return for arguably their best player ever.

Bleacher Report recently reported that there is five teams with valuable enough assets, and are also contenders in need of a player of Kane's caliber, and they are as listed below:

New York Rangers:

The Rangers made the conference finals last year but were missing that extra spark of offense, and nearly had ''too many'' young guns in their lineup with playoff experience, which is something the Blackhawks are in need of (young guns) for their upcoming multi-year rebuild. Patrick Kane's best friend, Artemi Panarin is also on the Rangers.

The Los Angeles Kings:

The LA Kings will experience a similar issue to the New York Rangers' playoff run last season as they have a massive group of young prospects in their lineup, and some who are struggling to make the team. Their star centermen Anze Kopitar is aging and is in hopes for another Stanley Cup throughout his last many years in the league, a player like Patrick Kane on his wing would excel his game greatly.

The Edmonton Oilers:

The Blackhawks were rumoured to be in trade talks with the Oilers this off-season in regards to their young forward who has yet to bloom, Jesse Puljarvi. Connor McDavid is in need of a elite duo on his wing that he has yet to have since nearly six years ago.

The Dallas Stars:

Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, alongside their young stars like Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger in goal, are looking to make a heavy playoff push this post-seasons playoffs and have the cap space to take on a player of Kane's caliber, as well as have the valuable young assets that Kyle Davidson may entertain.

Final team: the New Jersey Devils..
