Kyle Davidson, Eric Tulsky, Scott Mellanby and Peter Chiarelli have emerged as candidates in the Blackhawks ongoing search for a general manager. It is rumored that the next General Manager for the Chicago Blackhawks, will have a good amount of freedom. He will have the ability to run the operation as he/she pleases. (yes, a woman has been also mentioned in the mix of names).

According to Danny Wirtz, It's clear we need a better-defined plan and a better path forward,' Danny Wirtz said. 'A lot of the plan for this will be determined by the general manager.'

We had a lot of conversations around structure: Do you want to hire a president?' And when it came down to it, it's clearly about accountability and ensuring it's very clear where that accountability sits, where the decision-making sits.'

So far, they have interviewed:

 Kyle Davidson
 Eric Tulsky
 Scott Mellanby
 Peter Chiarelli
 Jeff Greenberg

Eric Tulsky doesn't have any General Manager experience. However people argue that he has a pedigree. He has a history of promotion. Tulsky started with hockey in 2011 as one of the premier analytics guys. At the time, he was working statistics for broadstreethockey.com. He went on to launch his own site Outnumbered. He was often revered as an statistical and analytics expert. In 2013 he was with The Carolina Hurricanes. Because of his efforts, they were able to make the playoffs more often than not.

There is no doubt this dude is smart. Tulsky graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics, and he has a doctorate in chemistry from California-Berkeley. He also has worked in nanotechnology and holds 17 U.S. patents.

Pretty cool speech that shows how he thinks. What are your thoughts?
