Longtime NHL defenseman Johnny Boychuk is returning to the NHL! The Islanders announced that Boychuk has signed a deal that will immediately place him in a player development role with the organization.
Boychuk was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd round of the 2002 draft. He won a Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in the 2010-2011 season and played most recently for the Islanders from 2015 until he retired in 2019.
Boychuk played in 725 NHL games, scoring 54 goals and tallying 152 assists in the process. He also finished his career with a 123 +/-. Boychuk is a great addition for the Islanders franchise and will look to help develop the next wave of young defenseman in the Islanders' system.
