The Chicago Blackhawks have had quite the disappointing season, a worse since 2005-2006. Patrick Kane on the hand managed to have a career year in some categories, along with DeBrincat doing the same. Patrick Kane has spent more than fourteen seasons in the NHL and is now at the age of thirty-three years old.

Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has made it clear that a rebuild is taking place and Kane had some comments on that. Kane mentioned «a rebuild does not have to contain losing a bunch, it can be done faster just like the New York Rangers and LA Kings for example».

Kyle Davidson bit back at Kane in his most recent interview and said;

«We are looking to build sustained success, not a flash in the pan, and if that doesn't align with some player's desire for a quick rebuild, then that's the way it is. « Referencing Kane's recent comments.

Kyle Davidson also made a huge announcement being open with the media about his star players, and said the following:

«there will be an open door policy for 19 & 88 during the offseason.»

Meaning that if 33-year old Kane and a 34-year old Toews want to get out of a rebuilding team and have a chance to be successful throughout their last few years in the NHL, it is completely up to them and the door is open.

It seems as if their is tension between the two (Davidson & Kane), but Davidson states they are communicating throughout this rebuild, but contract talks have yet to start..

If you were a 33-year old long time NHL'er, would you want to stick around a rebuilding team planning to re tool and not focus on winning throughout your last few years in the NHL?
