First things first - WELL PLAYED, IGOR SHESTERKIN!!! Does this kid even have legs, anymore?! It seems downright cruel to tell someone who just made 79 saves on 83 shots that his game will be recorded as a loss. However, it will also be recorded that he set a new Rangers franchise record for most saves in a game, regular season or playoffs, by 20. The previous record was 59 saves by Mike Richter vs the Canucks, 1/31/91. There is also now a record of Igor Shesterkin being the 8th goaltender in NHL history and the first Ranger to record over 70 saves in a game. And he has found himself in 2nd place on a list of goaltenders for most shots faced in a playoff game, sitting just 5 behind Joonas Korpisalo from the Blue Jackets vs Tampa Bay game in the Bubble.

Oh, yeah - there's this record, too:

In his first NHL Playoff start, he completely obliterates a 60 year old record, and his team still loses. My heart goes out to the 26 year old rock star. He did everything he possibly could, and then he did a whole lot more. I hope his entire team literally carried him out of the Garden on their shoulders. He deserves nothing less.
