Malkin Once Threatened His Coach That He'd Leave The NHL to go to Russia Over This..
Evgeni Malkin is quite the character, but with every character comes their downsides. Malkins being that he is very hard headed as explained by former NHL tough guy Paul Bissonette.
Bissonette explains at the time Malkin was under his coaches very odd system where he wanted his players to dump the puck in and right away sit back, Malkin disagreed and did the opposite.
The coach pulled Malkin aside with a Russian translator (Sergi Gonchar) and translated to Malkin that if he continued to not follow the system he'd be sat from playing.
Malkin proceeded to say to Gonchar in Russian «I go back to Russia if I am sat».
Quite the funny story, listen to the Spittin Chiclets podcast with host Paul Bissonette explain it during a interview below.
