The Montreal Canadiens stunned the world when they didn't draft Shane Wright first overall, having many wonder why Juraj Slafkovsky over Shane Wright?

They would learn shortly after as the Canadiens General Manager Ken Hughes would make two trades. First trading Alex Romanov to the New York Islanders for their
First round pick, then flipping that pick along with another pick to aquire Kirby Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Getting the Canadiens a big strong young center. The Canadiens have said they have huge plans for Dach in Montreal but the first issue is getting him signed, as the Canadiens have very little salary cap space.

They currently hold the rights to Kirby Dach, but have absolutely zero cap space to sign him to a contract..

The Canadiens got a little help for a fair contract amount as Dach had similar numbers to Rangers Kaapo Kakko who was just re-signed with the Rangers and went one spot ahead of Dach at the draft.

The Canadiens have huge plans for Dach this season for their second line to have that one-two punch of Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach down at center, something the Canadiens haven't had since Vincent Damphousse now the Canadiens have two.

The question remains now who are the Canadiens going to move and what kind of deal will Dach get in term sources say The Canadiens are looking at at least a 4-5 year deal.
