NHL Alumni First Round Pick Has Sadly Passed Away at The Age of 70
The NHL Alumni page has announced the unfortunate news of the passing of Dave Gardner, who was the 8th overall pick of the 1972 NHL Draft. At the age of 70, Dave Gardner passed away, as declared by the Alumni Association.
Dave Gardner had a remarkable NHL career in which he played 350 games, scoring 190 points. Hockey was a major part of the Garnder family as his father and brother, Cal and Paul respectively, also played in the NHL. Although his son played professional hockey in Europe, he could not make the transition to the NHL.
The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn that Dave Gardner has passed away at the age of 70.

During his career, Gardner played for several teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, California Seals, Cleveland Barrons, and Philadelphia Flyers. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family.
