The Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche Best of Seven series was supposed to be a epic seven game battle that didn't turn out to be the case after all.
After taking a 3-0 series lead the Colorado Avalanche where looking to punch their ticket the Stanley cup final. The Oilers gave a solid effort but the Avalanche battled back down 4-2 to force overtime.
The Avalanche would complete the sweep 1:19 into overtime when Artturi Lehkonen would knock a puckdown with a close highstick then put it past Mike Smith for the win.
The officials would review it to make sure it was a good goal that's when we got a hilarious moment from former NHL Official Don Koharski who was doing play by play
commentary for TNT. Here's what Mr Koharski had to say,
"That's pretty clearly a high stick to me from my vantage point. Wish the CBC or TNT crew showed additional camera angles, at least one that makes it conclusive."
Koharski exclaimed "holy s###" Ho...ly.... sssshhh ucks that's gonna be close!
The Avalanche could have upto 10-12 days of rest waiting and resting to face the Tampa Bay Lightning or New York Rangers.
