NHL Player Safety Hands Out Multiple Punishments From Last Nights Game
The Washington Capitals faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night and things got VERY heated after the Capitals newest signing, Nicholas Aube-Kubel, threw quite the dangerous hit towards Tampa Bay Lightning defensemen Cal Foote. The hit earned himself a hearing with the department of player safety today.
That is not the only form of discipline handed out from last nights game, two players have been fined for a altercation that took place after the dirty hit Aube-Kubel laid.
Pat Maroon has been fined $2,702.70 and Washington's Garnet Hathaway has been fined $4,054.05, both the maximum allowable under the CBA for unsportsmanlike conduct. Maroon suprisingly did not receive the max fine as he came off the bench to drop the gloves, which violates multiple CBA codes of conduct.
