Note to Hawks: Hockey Games Are 60 Minutes Long

There areseveralissues the Hawks need to work on, but I think one of the most important things is the simple reminder that they have to play well for an entire 60 minutes, if they want to win. We've seen their individual talents. We've seen them work together. We've seen it all come to fruition with leads, time and time again. And we've also seen it all come crumbling down.
Fans are running out of people to blame, and have turned their disparagements on Coach King, who was maybe the most upset we've seen him after a game, possibly since he started.
That being said, «upset» for Derek King is simply not making jokes, providing short answers, and not smiling even once. Still, when you're used to seeing the sweetest dad coach in the NHL, this version can be unsettling.
Hawks are 24-33-10 heading into tomorrow night's game against the 45-15-6 Panthers. Is anyone actually expecting this to go well? Probably not. I wouldn't be surprised if fans were actually hoping to not have a lead to blow, this time around. Losing the whole way through seems less embarrassing, somehow. Or not. Maybe we should ask the Red Wings.
At any rate, Thursday night will be the Captain's 1000th game, and I hope that's something that will remain in every player's mind for all sixty minutes. And maybe, just maybewe'll come away with our dignity.
