Nine years ago today Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks prepped for game 5 of the Western Conference Finals against the LA Kings. Having a 3-1 lead in the series (and coming off of one of the most dominant regular season's in NHL history going 24 games into the season before losing in regulation) Kane and the Hawks were hungry for their second trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. While the Hawks got off to an early lead, Mike Richards and the Kings were able to score late in the 3rd period to force OT. Remaining tied and requiring a second OT period, Jonathan Quick was faced with a 2 on 1 over half way through the period and I'm sure every Blackhawks fan remembers how that call went:
Kane from Toews for his third goal of the game to send the Kings home and the Hawks back to the Stanley Cup. The cherry on top of this play was Kane breaking out the "heartbreaker" celly as hats rained down from the Madhouse.
