One Team Officially Slams The Door in Chara's Face
The New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello announced on Monday that there is no option for the seasoned defenseman to return, making Zdeno Chara the oldest free agent left on the market.
There have been rumours about Chara's potential retirement for weeks. He might be holding off on making a choice till the offseason is over.
We now know it won't be with the Islanders, he might be hoping for a new contract to come his way. Possibly with the Boston Bruins?
After 24 seasons and 1,880 career games played for the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, plus an additional timenwith the Islanders, a player may decide to retire. 209 goals and 680 points were scored by Chara throughout his impressive career.
