To kick off the chase for the Stanley Cup, round one began in the Eastern Conference tonight with the Carolina Hurricanes taking on the Boston Bruins in Raleigh. Seth Jarvis (C) played his first career playoff game tonight and tallied both a goal and an assist. Jarvis is the first player out of the 2020 draft to score a playoff goal; Jarvis was drafted 13th overall.

After scoring 16:28 minutes into the second period, Jarvis is now on an 8-game point streak, while also becoming the 4th Hurricane rookie to score a goal in a playoff debut. He joins Erik Cole (LW) in 2002, Andrei Svechnikov (RW) in 2019, and Martin Necas (C) in 2020. To add to his success, the goal and assist in the third period bring his total points on the season to 40 in 68 games played, 22 of those points being in his last 23 games.

The Canes came out on top of the Bruins tonight, winning 5-1 at home. Boston had 36 shots on goal to Carolina's 25, but Antti Raanta (G) came up huge with 35 saves. Raanta also played his playoff debut tonight, starting in net with Pyotr Kochetkov (G) backing. Frederik Anderson (G) is still recovering from a lower-body injury sustained during the third period against the Colorado Avalanche on April 16th.

The Hurricanes lead the series 1-0 and will face the Bruins at home again on Wednesday, May 4, at 6 p.m. CST.
