It's remarkable with all the injuries the Vegas Golden Knights have had to overcome that they are still a Western Conference contender. While many of players are relaxing during the NHL's All-Star break, a member of the Vegas Golden Knights has gone under the knife. As reported by Sportsnet's Hockey Insider Chris Johnston:
Vegas Golden Knights Captain Mark Stone underwent back surgery and is out indefinitely.
If he's out for the rest of the regular season -- which seems possible -- the Golden Knights could open up considerable cap space by placing him on LTIR.
- Chris Johnston This is obviously bad news for Vegas, losing their captain likely the entire season and playoffs, but with Stone having a $9.5 million dollar salary that will be on injured reserve, Vegas will have plenty of cap at the trade deadline to try and replace Stone. You have to wonder, this is Stone's third surgery throughout the past few years and it seems as if nothing has excelled the way he's wanted to, at which point does he consider retirement?
