It's been rumored almost this whole entire season that the Chicago Blackhawks were likely to trade super star Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers at some point of this year.
However, yesterday the New York Rangers General Manager Chris Drury went a different route acquiring St Louis Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko, along with defenceman Niko Mikkola in exchange for a 2023 1st round pick, 2024 4th round pick, forwards Sammy Blais and Hunter Skinner instead.
This had some wondering why the Rangers chose Tarasenko over Kane? To which the Rangers revealed they were concerned about Kane's well documented hip injury. The Rangers felt it was a safer bet to acquire Tarasenko with the rumors that Kane is avoiding season ending hip surgery.
