Incase you missed yesterday TSN's Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie put his 15 year prediction streak on the line and revealed his top 20 rankings for the 2022 NHL entry draft and surprisingly the projected 1st overall pick Kingston Frontenacs Shane Wright, wasn't Bob's 1st pick.
McKenzie would reveal he believes that Slovakian sniper
Juraj Slafkovsky took over McKenzie's number one spot!
Here is McKenzie's projected list:
This was obviously some big news and while Shane Wright was doing a media day ahead of the Draft July 7th in Montreal
Wright was answering some questions from reporters and then was asked by a reporter did he see McKenzie's rankings?
Shane Wright would reply:
"It's definitely not something you can ignore easily. Now that the season is over, my attention is on the draft. However, it's all noise and I don't have any control over what people say or the different rankings. I'm focused on being as ready as possible for the draft. It obviously comes with pressure, but I want to enjoy the moment as much as possible."
Then was asked about the possibility of not going first overall Wright would reply:
"I don't put much stock in the various lists. At the end of the day, they're just rankings and that doesn't mean they'll be representative of the draft order. We won't know that until July 7, so I don't care much about it. I know these are smart people who put a lot of effort into these rankings, but they don't matter to me."
