TRADE ALERT - Blackhawks and Canadiens Have Made a Trade
On Wednesday morning, the Blackhawks have announced that they traded defenseman, Nicolas Beaudin, to the Canadiens in exchange for ECHL forward, Cameron Hillis.
According to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, Beaudin was just a little shy of cracking the Blackhawks' top-20 prospect list.
Beaudin, 23, has played in 22 career games for the Blackhawks, with 19 of those games coming in the 2020-21 season.
During that time, Beaudin had 6 points and a +1 +/-. All of his points came in that 2020-21 season.
Cameron Hillis, 22, heads to Rockford with an unproven career to this point. He has played in just 1 NHL game after being a 3rd round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft.
This move suggests that the progression of Beaudin in his age-23 season is not what Kyle Davidson and company had been hoping for. There are some other young d-men in the organization that they must believe have a better outlook for the team than Beaudin.
