Defenseman Jarred Tinordi has had a rough couple of weeks with the injury on his chin. After taking a slapshot to the face against the New York Rangers, Tinordi's stitches reopened and he had to leave the game. This morning it was announced that he underwent surgery for his facial fracture and that he won't be back anytime soon.
Tinordi was originally injured after taking a skate to the face against the Winnipeg Jets on Dec. 9. He wore a full face shield for the next few games to protect the 50 to 100 stitches on his chin. He wasn't wearing one against the Rangers when he took a puck to the face shot by Sammy Blais.
Currently, there's no timeline for his return but Luke Richardson said he'll be out for a while. Isaak Phillips was called up from Rockford to play in Tinordi's spot; he has 17 points (3G, 14A) in 25 games with the IceHogs.
