Rodion Amirov was selected 15 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and has gone through a significant health issue since.
The 20-year-old native of Salavat, Russia., was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which he has been seeking care for.
A video emerged recently of just how determined and driven Amirov has been despite his big health scare.
I don't know about everybody else, but sports are just a fantastic place for everybody to connect, and when a story emerges about a young player, who has stayed focused and determined despite his own personal issues. It's amazing, and it's certainly an emotional story.
